Sept. 25, 2006 Pearlington Project Update
As always, things continue to happen with our project. Since our return on Sept.1 the following has occurred.
-Began planning for the Oct. 20 trip, hopefully several folks from the valley will be going down to volunteer. Projects include;
- Tear down Sandra’s damaged structure and begin reconstruction
- Put in flooring at Lean Macilus’ house
- Install insulation at Debbie Sonnier’s
- Look at new home project of Linda Shaw’s
-Received donations of a washer/dryer from Stephen & Mary Holley
-Chuck Apostolic who is remodeling the Lift One condominiums in Aspen has offered doors and windows from the building. I went to look at the items and Chuck will meet with me after Oct. 1 to go over the best inventory.
Lauren Taylor from Redstone worked on and has completed our new website. She did a great job, check it out at www.pearlingtonproject.com. Thanks Lauren
-TJ Krest from Basalt donated an air compressor, which is something we had considered buying to run a nail gun and paint sprayer.
-Several others have called to donate bedroom furniture, mattresses and other bedding.
-Howard Bixler – a local contractor is considering coming down in Oct. he is working on getting a few other builders to come down as well.
-We were able to get insulation delivered to Debbie Sonnier’s and Lena Macilus’ house, saving them about $3000.
-We purchased the counter top for Debbie Sonnier’s kitchen through our Americares grant.
-I met with Kris Marsh to discuss funding and project goals
-Working on USFS trailer to try and get it ready to take down for future medical clinic.
-Working on getting the ambulance title signed back over to Carbondale Fire to be used as a mobile triage unit for future storm.
-Working on Medical Response Plan with Dr. Batman and Paula Buhr, forwarded our meeting minutes to our team for future discussions with the Mississippi Medical Reserve.
Those are the work items for the past two weeks. Thanks to all who have donated their time, money and materials. The project is doing well and continues to provide a vital need to the Pearlington Community. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we move forward to help our adopted town.
