Updates from Project Coordinator Tom Dalessandri

What's next for Pearlington - September 6, 2006

Hi everyone. Hope you had a great labor day weekend.

I'm back from Pearlington and a special thanks to Debbie Q., Hilary and the Pitkin County crew for the letting me use the Jeep. I towed it down on a car dolly behind the U-Haul truck and drove it back. It worked perfectly.

All went well and I don't have much to update you about the trip. The Carbondale crew did a great job and we got work done on Debbie Sonnier's, alittle extra on Ben Taylor's, and Eileen Powers and son did a lot of work on Sandra Merle's.

Now for the future. The next trip is tentatively scheduled for around the 3rd week in Oct. I'm hoping Billy and Kim, Lisa Wagner and others can come down around that time. Groups from other parts of the country are working with me to coordinate their trip around the same time. A good size team from all over will help make a big "pre-winter push". We will concentrate on Sandra's and several individuals and groups are offering money and materials to that effort.

If you have thought of coming down or know who might want to, or if you know of anyone who wants to adopt a family and contribute towards that family, now is the time. Money can be sent in Sandra's name to the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation. If all goes well we can get her house gutted and reframed in this trip and it will be ready for the winter months.

Over the next few weeks I will be working on a more detailed materials list but we may be able to get discounted materials out of Georgia from one of our volunteers and have them delivered. I most likely will do another rental truck one way in Oct.

Debbie, if you could help schedule a board meeting sometime in the next few weeks, I can show photos and update everyone in person. Time the a planning session for the next phase. Thanks to all. Tom
